I’m more than excited to be getting a chance to witness what is sure to be better than any boxing match we’ve ever seen. We’re heading to Martinsville today so I’m making this a little early because we won’t have WiFi.

There are seven championship-caliber drivers who are all capable of winning this race at Martinsville and next week at Pheonix. This is going to be unlike any cutoff race we’ve ever seen because these guys are going to practically kill each other; God save them if there is a green-white-checkered.

The fact is this race is near impossible to predict. Even with every driver having what I feel is an almost equal shot at this race, I still have one name that I think stands out above the others.

Favorite: Ryan Blaney

While Martin Truex Jr. won here earlier this year, Blaney had the car to beat for most of the day and was surely going to finish at least top 3 prior to a pit road mistake on his crew. Not only is this team going to bring their best, but they already have a great base to jump from.

Even before this season, Martinsville is one of Blaney’s best tracks. A win for him here is only inevitable at this point, and I see no reason why this race couldn’t be his first. The only potential issue is that this race will get ugly, and he’s going to have to prove he can race with the same aggression as the big boys.

Dark Horse: Bubba Wallace

I will be in absolute shock if anybody besides one of these eight playoff drivers is not the winner, but it could happen. Since his win at Talladega, this team has had a pep in their step for sure.

Martinsville is a track Wallace has always found success at in every level and it’s a place I can see him having a surprise run this weekend. He’s going to have to piss a lot of people off to make it happen, but I believe he has the attitude to get in the way of a playoff battle, that is for sure.
