In a bit of controversy, a parody account named Drunken Brian France on Twitter has come out with their proclamation that Brad Keselowski to Hendrick Motorsports in 2021 is already a done deal, just waiting for the appropriate time to announce.
Take this with an ice cream scoop of salt, but the account has been doubling down on this claiming to have insider information. While the account itself is a weak source, Keselowski makes the most sense of any driver who has been rumored.
Keselowski finds himself struggling to secure major sponsorship at Penske for the last couple of years. He also got the short end of the stick when it came to the crew chief mix around that Penske instituted in the offseason, no offense to Jeremy Bullins.
Also with Ford development drivers like Austin Cindric and Chase Briscoe looking to make the jump to Cup next season, Penske is in a position where they need to make room on the team. More than likely Penske would move Joey Logano and Pennzoil over to the flagship #2 car and move either Cindric or Briscoe into the #22.
Brad’s motivation for leaving is pretty founded and he’s the best driver for Hendrick to pull from in my opinion.
The chances of this being true regardless of the twitter account his pretty high as it’s been speculated on for quite a while now. The idea that the deal is done however is a new one. Hendrick could be waiting to see if Ally will stay on as the primary sponsor or seeing if they can lock down any other sponsors before coming public with the deal.
